‘If you want to be different you need to change what you do. If you don’t want to change what you do, perhaps change what you want to be.’
I’m not sure who first said this, but it has stuck with me. I don’t even remember if I was actively seeking change when I first heard it, but I knew it applied to me—and later, to some of my clients.
We all have comfort zones, and we tend to protect them. It’s natural to have blind spots about ourselves. That’s why a trusted friend or family member can be invaluable for self-evaluation. Their perspective has helped me make real changes when I needed to.
If you want change, first define what it looks like and commit to it. Find support where you can, and don’t hesitate to lean on those who are willing and can help. Most importantly, don’t be afraid to explore your own potential. You might be surprised at what you can accomplish.
