Every ‘Body’ has a Story
Our bodies tell the stories we live. Every experience — whether joyful, stressful, or transformative — leaves its imprint. In my work and studies with Kinesiology, I’ve come to see the body not just as a physical vessel, but as a living record of our memories, emotions, and growth. Kinesiology helps uncover those stories and supports healing through safe, non-invasive techniques.
Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate how each of us presents our life story through our body. When I was learning Kinesiology as an alternative therapy, I remember being told that our muscles hold our memories. More recently, I read that it is actually our nerves that hold our memories. Either way, our body systems keep a careful record of our experiences.
We are, by nature, created to move — physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. When movement stops, the body will eventually rebel in one way or another. Continue not to move, and the old adage “use it or lose it” may well become a reality.
🌿 What Is Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is the scientific study of human body movement. The word comes from the Greek kinesis (movement) and the suffix -ology (study of).
When I began my studies in Kinesiology, the first practical skill I learned was muscle testing. The second was the significance of linguistics — how we ask a question — and the importance of trusting the body’s responses. The third was intention: remaining neutral and unbiased so the body can truly guide the process.
When these principles are in place, the body will show you where it needs attention.
🧘♀️ The Beauty of the Work
The beauty of Kinesiology lies in its open-ended exploration. Under its umbrella are many modalities, each offering practical tools, insights, and ways of releasing what no longer serves. This allows for greater avenues of healing for the client.
To me, Kinesiology is non-invasive, safe, and deeply respectful. It gives the client — and their body — the space to direct and define their own treatment and pace of progress. Every session becomes part of a personal story, unfolding in its own time.
💫 Why Try Kinesiology?
Every body truly does have its story — one that deserves to be heard, understood, and honoured. Through Kinesiology, we can learn to listen more closely to what our bodies are telling us, and in doing so, open the door to deeper self-awareness, balance, and wellbeing.
