If you want to be different you need to change what you do. If you don’t want to change what you do, perhaps change what you want to be.
I’m not sure who first coined this saying or where I heard it, but it has resonated with me on many levels. I don’t even remember if I was consciously trying to create change in my life at the time; however, I know I could relate to it personally, and I found it applicable to various situations my clients would discuss with me.
We all have our comfort zones, and for the most part, we don’t want them to be challenged. It’s natural to have blind spots about ourselves. I have discovered that having a trusted friend or family member can be incredibly helpful for self-evaluation. Their support has been crucial in helping me make the changes necessary to alter my outcomes.
To create change in your life, first determine what it looks like and whether you are willing to commit to it. Then, identify where you can gain support and engage those individuals if you need help. Never be afraid to explore yourself and your options.
